Single Premiere: Slow Down Molasses - No Coast

Slow Down Molasses released 100% Sunshine on September 2nd, 2016. It was a culmination for a band that was beginning to become known as the “Broken Social Scene” of the prairies. For years, players would come and go (then come back again), and the band really became known as a large collective of friends making music. That changed with 100% Sunshine as they finally solidified a line up and recorded their best album to date. However, when the album cycle finished, the band went into hibernation… until now.

For those patiently awaiting this Saskatoon powerhouse’s next move, they had to wait nearly three years until the Sled Island Music Festival revealed its 2019 lineup. With the news of their return to the stage, also comes the news that the band have begun writing a new record which will be released in 2020. To help get the world re-acquainted with Slow Down Molasses, the Cups N Cakes Network is proud to present an exclusive premiere of the track “No Coast”, which is an outtake from the 100% Sunshine sessions. It’s an incredible song, but didn’t fit into the album as perfectly as the band wanted.

Slow Down Molasses has no plans to ever make the song public on any platforms other than on Episode 137 of the Cups N Cakes Radio Show (28:15 mark). This particular episode features Ella and Jeff, and is dedicated solely to Sled Island 2019. The Cups N Cakes team came together and combed over the entire lineup to give festival goers a list of Canadian acts that are not to be missed.

Slow Down Molasses are playing two shows at Sled Island. Catch them at 9:30 on Thursday at #1 Legion with Heavydive, Fly Pan Am and The Messthetics and at 3:00 on Friday at Tubby Dog with The Sex Geckos, 3 Moonjask and The Garrys.

Also, if from Saskatoon and unable to make the drive to Calgary, catch them playing the Nightshirt Festival on June 12th at Black Cat Tavern with DRI HIEV and Drab Wrath.
