Single Premiere: Mallory Chipman & the Mystics - "Midnight Lady"

Edmonton’s Mallory Chipman & the Mystics are preparing the release of their debut album, AQUARIAN, on May 29, 2020. Blending prog, jazz, psych, and folk into a unique sound that is a breath of fresh air; we are very excited for the debut from this powerhouse.

Today the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to premiere the third single from AQUARIAN called “Midnight Lady”.

A statement from the band explains:

“The song was written as a response to many classic rock tunes such as “Black Magic Woman”, “Sweet City Midnight Lady”, that romanticize ‘mystical femininity’, often alongside tunes, on the very same record, that perpetuate age-old sexist narratives towards women. ‘"Midnight Lady” was written to explore that same sense of mystical femininity, but through a feminist lens.”
