Double Single Premiere From R McClure & Tall Shadows

Vancouver’s R McClure is no stranger to the Canadian music scene, as frontman of the indie-pop act Shimmering Stars, he saw success in the early 2010s when that group was signed to Hardly Art (a Sub Pop subsidiary). Those days now in the past, McClure is finally ready to return to the Canadian music world with his debut solo effort. With help from the Kamloops imprint, Factotum Cassettes & Oddities, on August 19th, he is releasing a solo album that features a very different sound from the one he crafted with Shimmering Stars.

After touring Shimmering Stars’ second album, Bedrooms of the Nation, in the summer of 2014, McClure recorded an album in an abandoned, turn-of-the-century, railway station in Canford, BC - a rural area outside of the small town of Merritt. The songs forged in that session were inspired by McClure’s deep love of golden era country along with his other musical obsessions that include shoegaze and dream-pop.

Today the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to have the honour of premiering two singles from that upcoming, debut album. "What Have I Done" is a euphoric, intoxicated take on the classic country waltz, one part Patsy Cline and one part Beach House. On the contrary, "Me And My Hangover" represents the morning after, facing a mountain of regret with the only companion who remains by your side time and time again.

The album will be released on cassette via Factotum. All profits from physical and online sales will be donated to two Canadian organizations: The Moose Hide Campaign and Black Health Alliance. Enjoy the two track below then follow the built-in link to pre-order
