Release Premiere: Sean Davis Newton - He Sold Himself Short

Cups N Cakes own Sean Davis Newton is a busy fellow. Somehow in between - working on his music career as an engineer, running a small label (Grade School Records), interviewing Canadian musicians like Dan Mangan or Corb Lund for our “Inside The Artists Studio” podcast - he manages to find time to create his own unique brand of Canadian indie music.

Today we are very excited to be delivering an exclusive premiere of his upcoming EP entitled He Sold Himself Short. The EP was produced by fellow Edmontonian, Alaskan Kheroufi and features Newton’s idiosyncratic vocals over three songs that range from the 70’s roots rock of “Cigarette,” to the McCartney-esque barroom piano romp of “Pigeon.” Lyrically, Newton dives into our relationship to class, climate, and each other.

The official release date is tomorrow (October 29th) but you can preview the entire EP one day early below.

Also, if in Edmonton on October 30th, Newton will be playing a free show at 2PM at Co*Lab where he will be selling the EP in the form of an ULTRA-limited CD. The packaging consists of a polaroid of the cover and there will only be 8 copies, exactly one pack of Polaroid film worth!
