Festival Review: Together Again

It may be temporary or we may actually be allowed to enjoy a little bit of life ‘normalcy’ again. Or until the next wave at least. Live music and entertainment. Indoor and outdoor gatherings are allowed for now. I know even venturing back out for some can carry some anxiety. I had my reservations as I do have some introverted qualities. Sometimes I want to be close to people. Sometimes I want my space. Edmonton’s summer concert series, Together Again offers just that. Every weekend a new line up for you to enjoy. You get the VIP experience with table service. They provide chairs but you can bring your own lawn chair for more comfort.

We enjoyed a spacious area where I was able to breathe freely, be with friends and even get to move and dance around. I was worried how restrictive an event like this might be with all the new rules and regulations. But it was far from feeling restrictive. In fact the whole experience with event staff and security was utterly out of this world warm, friendly and amazing! Lately I haven’t felt much love from the human race so this helped to restore my faith In mankind a little.

Bif Naked played a wild set. Clearly you can feel the raw emotion take over Bif herself and that emotion carried through to the audience. Her energy is always over the moon. Bif has just as much spunk as she ever did. She’s the fuel on the fire. Making people think and always creating awareness. Very touching shout out and thank you to the nurses who played a big part in her care and recovery of breast cancer. Not a dry eye around me. Or I was the only crying? Either way it was heartfelt and touching. Gracious and humble. Truly such an beautiful human being. We love you Bif Naked!

54•40 a Canadian classic I’d last seen in maybe ‘95. Well it was as if time had stood still. I was quite a fan in my younger years. They always had good words. Created awareness and generally just had a good vibe. There were some grand moments during their set. Every song you knew and remembered. There were some fun crowd participation sing-a-longs. It was so nice to hear! They still maintain that great vibe and never missed a beat. Even if they did I wouldn’t of noticed. We were all just having blast, blazing freely, and taking in the moment.

The crowd grew and grew for The Trews. They had a great energy and played a couple new songs. One offered a nice heavy breakdown for the chorus that added some extra punch. I think the people enjoyed this heavier side of the Trews. They also didn’t disappoint in playing all the crowd pleasers.

Walking out that night my heart was full. My eyes overflowed a little too. Music is medicine and my soul feels like it received some deep healing from attending Together Again. I think all attendees could agree the love vibrations were so very high! What’s a great experience! Guess what? You can catch Together Again festival every weekend this summer. Definitely something for everyone!

Love Always,

Green Noreen
