Premiere: Roo - Just Might

Roo is the recording project of Sophie Wonfor, a singer/songwriter living a semi-nomadic life, splitting time between the Prairies, Quebec, and the Maritimes. Under this moniker (which was her childhood nickname), Wonfor explores the raw emotions of ones darkest inner feelings while simultaneously urging herself, and her listeners, to work towards finding the light.

In late 2021, Wonfor released her debut EP as Roo, Blooming, Glooming (Part I), which we covered as a “Quick Pick” with Brandon Kruze stating:

“Hailing from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia is the emo-bard Roo, and ‘fumbling through the dark while looking for a light’ is the theme of Blooming, Glooming (Part I), a four song EP featuring the vocals and acoustic guitar of Sophie Wonfor to provide a hope and serenity hard to find in a weary world.”

Today the Cups N Cakes Network is happy to report that the first single from Blooming, Glooming (Part II) will be arriving on November 19th via Vain Mina Records. The track is called “Just Might” and it showcases the upcoming EPs more collaborative approach. Longing and pain are followed by acceptance as Wonfor sets the stage for the EPs themes of long-distance love and the frustrations it can yield.
