Video Premiere: Janette King - Ooh Yeah

Today the Cups N Cakes Network is very excited to premiere a new video from Montreal’s Janette King. The video is for the track “Ooh Yeah” which came out on Janette’s debut album, What We Lost, which was released June 25th, 2021, and was named a “Pick Of The Week” upon its release.

The track tackles themes of self-pleasure, self-confidence, and self-belief. Sonically it finds King tapping into her penchant for R&B and woozy electronica with her soaring vocals stealing the show. Regarding the lyrical content, King states:

"'Ooh Yeah' is about breaking trauma patterns, "killing" your old self in order to be reborn into the greatest version of yourself. This idea of walking into a new sense of self came from the forced time alone due to the pandemic where I was left to reflect and learn what my soul truly needs in order to feel whole. The song touches on some of the positives of pandemic solitude, namely self-reflection and also rediscovering self-pleasure as a form of empowerment – as the song says "Just alone with me, me and myself, feeling my body""

Today were are very excited to premiere this DIY style video which expresses the themes of the song by piecing together various moments of joy and pleasure. Check it out below and check out King’s fantastic 2021 release, What We Lost, here.
