Premiere: Kilometre Club - Futures

Kilometre Club is the ambient moniker of Toronto’s Daniel Field, who spends most of his time as a special education teacher and father of three. A lifelong musician, Field turned his attention to synthesizers at the beginning of the pandemic, which initially resulted in a cool series of albums timed and themed to every Toronto subway station. Today we are very excited to deliver an advance premiere of his next album, Futures.

Arriving this Friday (May 6th), Futures acts as a series of imaginary soundtracks to Canadian dystopian and post-apocalyptic novels. Each track on the album is inspired by the themes and imagery from books by some of this country’s most incredible writers. While ambient in nature, the album is seasoned with other genres that include: post-rock, neoclassical, downtempo, and experimental. Field’s hope with Futures was to craft an album that could act as a reading companion. Hit play and cozy up with a new book to test it out!

The record arrives on Friday and will be available for purchase with all revenue from streaming, limited edition CD, and Bandcamp to be donated to a charity focusing on purchasing books for neighbourhood schools by BIPOC and marginalized authors.

Enjoy the exclusive premiere below (hopefully with a good book!) and look out for two companion albums to be released later this year.
