Video premiere: Buddie - Labyrinth

The Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to premiere the new music video for “Labyrinth”, by Vancouver based three piece rock band Buddie. The song is on the band’s poppy, fuzzy, sophmore record Agitator that will be out on Friday, April 21st.

After the success of their first LP Diving, the band returned to the studio to record all of the music that had been brewing since recording their first album. The next batch of songs, nearly 20 in total, was recorded with a sense of urgency in mid-2021 as frontman Dan Forrest moved to Vancouver (from his native Philadelphia) shortly after to begin a graduate degree. Agitator is jam packed full of earworm choruses, “loud-quiet-loud,” bubblegrunge, and 90s influenced indie rock, and is already a favourite here at the Cups N Cakes offices.

The full album will be out on April 21st, and it is not to be missed. If you’re on the West coast, you can catch their auspicious 4/20 album release show at the Lido, and for everyone else, the album will be available on all streaming services and on Bandcamp.

Jeff MacCallum

Jeff MacCallum is our founder. He created Cups N Cakes simply because he had a love of local music. Soon the platform grew beyond the confines of his scene in Edmonton to include all of Canada.

"I did it all very DIY. Everything you see was me learning on the fly. I'm a carpenter not a musician, or a journalist, or a publicist... I'm a carpenter and a weird crazy music fan that thought he could do something fun that might benefit something I care about"

Over the years, MacCallum's commitment to elevating Canadian music earned him a spot as a Polaris Prize Juror, a WCMA Juror, a consultant for music festival curation, and a dear friend to independent music in Canada.
