Matthew Barber, runt, Tod Hughes, and Joe Bodie

Matthew Barber - No Singing Or Dancing

Matthew Barber takes thoughts of our contemporary world through the lens of soothing folk music. With this being his first album since 2018, I figure the title and many of the song's themes reference the pandemic and its effect on social gatherings, as well as a nod to social media in the opening track “Viral”.

runt - I wish you all the best

This is an amazing debut release from Edmonton’s dynamic duo, runt. I wish you all the best is a creative blending of the soft sounds of indie rock with the heavy content of post punk. This album shows that with a guitar, some drums, and a hell of a singing voice, you can make some awesome music.

Tod Hughes - “Cowtown!”

This new single from Tod Hughes is a straight country ballad about the city of Calgary. Embracing the cowboy pride of the southern Alberta city, it’s hard not to crack a smile listening to this. It’s catchy as all hell too, where after just a few listens you’re bound to remember the lyrics.

Joe Bodie - BADGOODBYE (EP)

BADGOODBYE is the new EP from Edmonton-based musician Joe Bodie. His alternative rock sound pairs perfectly with his gritty voice, and alongside some catchy beats it makes for a quartet of unforgettable songs. The titular track starts with an acoustic guitar before building up to a powerful ending of such a bittersweet love song.
