Single Premiere: Symfan - "In My Room"

Edmonton’s Symfan is the synth-pop project of producer Hannah Haderlein. Her music is inspired by eurodance, 80s synth-pop, and Super Nintendo-era video-game soundtracks. In 2017, she released the album Circadian Workout which got noticed across Alberta, earning her a coveted spot at the Sled Island Music Festival. She will release Her follow-up, Sour Honey, will be released on June 13th and today we are pleased to have an exclusive premiere of the first single, “In My Room”.

“In My Room” explores using isolation to deal with the irritability and mistrust toward others that manifests when one is depressed. Haderlein explains:

“Usually, I try to keep things hopeful and optimistic in my music, but for this song, I made the speaker cynical and self-pitying. I wanted to capture how letting distorted thoughts run rampant in self-imposed isolation can fuel and deepen depressive episodes.”
