Album Premiere: Snake River - Lost Album

Regina’s Snake River are one of the best psych bands on the prairies. With psychedelia firmly planted as the base for their music, they fuse in twang, spacey-drones, and even jangly-pop to make a unique sound that gives front person Christopher Sleightholm the backdrop needed to run a never ending story about the residents of the fictional town Snake River Mountain. We absolutely adore this band having named their last full length, Tread On To The Unknown You, to our list of the “Best Albums Of 2018” and their last EP, Tread On To The Seaside, to our list of the “Best EPs Of 2019.” We even managed to coax Sleightholm in for an interview on our “Inside The Artists Studio” podcast.

Our love for this band makes today’s announcement all the sweeter. Snake River are ready to unleash their sixth studio album and you get to hear the whole thing now exclusively through the Cups N Cakes Network!

The record is called Lost Album and it was partially recorded in a former Church in rural Saskatchewan. The songs are janglier, poppier, and a little more surreal than some of their previous work. This subtle shift was first noted on Tread On To The Unknown You, but has now been expanded upon. Also of note on Lost Album is the viola of Amber Pb which was only hinted at on the last record. Lyrically, the Snake River Mountain lore continues with longtime characters Reginald McKruski, his wife Jeanie, and their cat Gerard. The characters however, have taken more control of their own fates as the narrator reveals himself, breaking the fourth wall to worry about what havoc his characters may create.

The album will be available this Friday (Feb 26th) and is available for pre-order here.
