Premiere: Jared Doherty - Workingman’s Joe

Kamloops artist Jared Doherty has been on our radar ever since releasing his debut album, Small Window in 2018. His solo work isn’t the only thing he’s been a part of, he cut his teeth in the now disbanded, At Mission Dolores and is a member of the psych-pop band Mother Sun. When he’s not busy creating, he’s highlighting the music of BC through a label he co-owns called Divine Bovine Records.

Today we are very happy to announce that Doherty will finally follow up his phenomenal debut (which we named a “Pick Of The Week” way back in November, 2018) with a new album this fall. We are very excited to share the first single from the forthcoming release. The song is called “Workingman’s Joe” and is about everyday joy in small moments from the perspectives of a coffee shop patron as well as the owner. The title is the name of a fictional coffee shop with a strict menu of black coffee and cigarettes. The idea for the song came to Doherty on a road trip back to Kamloops from Vancouver Island. The single arrives today with an instrumental B-Side called “Singular Circle.”

Enjoy!
