Premiere: Ravine Angel - Somewhere

Ravine Angel is the project of Calgary’s Teague Clements. They started releasing Tascam 8-track recordings under a series of pseudonyms in 2011, before eventually settling on the name Ravine Angel in 2018. Through the various different moniker’s, their musical style has remained the same. Clements mixes storytelling and lyrical focus with experimental, genre-bending production and punk’s DIY ethos. Their fifth album, MELTWORLD, will be arriving on July 30th and today we are very excited to share an exclusive premiere of the second single, Somewhere.”

When asked about the track, Clements revealed:

“It was written to comfort my partner at a time where they were struggling with depression, I wanted to write them something to remind them that their pain is valid and stems from real problems that can be fixed. The song is full of references to the classics of ‘let’s run away together’ guitar pop, and tries to hit on a teenage feeling of romantic longing for things to change, but not caring how. It is also about a fundamentally queer experience of not knowing where home is and the sense of being unwelcome in the place you grew up.”
