Video premiere: Christopher Atkins - Don't Mind the Cold

We’re excited to premiere the new music video from British Columbia’s Christopher Atkins, out on June 30th via Divine Bovine records. “Don’t Mind the Cold” captures a Summer vibe perfect for its late June release, complete with a wavering, melted-sounding picked guitar, and a lazy harmonica solo near the end of the tune. It’s the first studio recording from Atkins, and you can hear the effect of the more collaborative environment; the keyboard and horn parts from Alexander Ward are a particular highlight, and drummer James Bings supports the laidback groove of the song flawlessly.

From Christopher:

“Don’t Mind the Cold” was a product of newfound inspiration after coming to possess a special old guitar. The song was written in late December during a stagnant stretch of the holidays. I think the lyrics reflect a sense of needing to stay busy and to steer away from wishful thinking - but instead to enjoy the days for what they are.

“Don’t Mind the Cold” will be available on all streaming services this Friday, June 30th. In the meantime, check out the gloriously VHS fuzzed video for the song below.
