Layten Kramer, Paul Jacobs, Charlie D, and Olivia’s World

Layten Kramer – Dear Apathy

From Canmore’s Layten Kramer comes a psychedelic indie rock album delivering nine trance-like tracks self described as “acid-western”, and rightfully so. Dear Apathy serves up a hot plate of trippy soft rock with a sprinkling of country. Allow your ears to be taken away by the soothing compositions of Layten Kramer and his talented friends.

Paul Jacobs – Pink Dogs on the Green Grass

Paul Jacobs describes himself as ‘a mix between this and that’, and his newest release Pink Dogs on the Green Grass epitomizes this through its easy going, psychedelic sound. In this charcuterie board of an album Jacobs balances punk and psychedelic pop in a way that’s not too angst-y and not too stoner-y, but just enough.

Charlie D - Still Trying EP

Charlie D’s debut EP is a trilogy of bedroom tracks experimenting with recreating the sound of garage rock through MIDI instruments and Ableton Live. Still Trying glows with charm through its DIY, lo-fi production and its early 2000’s Strokes-esque vocal distortion. It’s a beautiful display of the fun in exploring the different pastures of creating music.

Olivia’s World – Tuff 2B Tender

Tuff 2B Tender is the newest release from Vancouver’s Olivia’s World. It’s an exercise in creativity and collaboration to form a five track EP reminiscent of the lo-fi rock of the 1990’s. Olivia’s World is presented as twee-revivalist, presenting images and ideas of the comfort in escapism and the justification of existence.
