Corridor, Chad VanGaalen, Brick Road, and Radiant Baby

Corridor – “Et Hop”

Montreal-based musique francophone band Corridor releases their newest single, “Et Hop.” It’s a hazy indie jam with a killer bass line that follows the song through – a song that got me so lost in the music that I hadn’t even realized the lyrics were in French. I’m unfamiliar with the language but although I didn’t know what they’re singing about, it still sounds awesome.

Chad VanGaalen – broken harp

From Calgary is Chad VanGaalen, and from a local classified was a broken harp. As the album’s title suggests, Chad bought this harp and used it to create an album full of soft experimental music with an exotic and tranquil sound, with all songs featuring the beautiful melodies of this busted instrument.

Brick Road –Brick Road II: The Fantastic Affectionate Harmonies and Infinite Stumbling Anthems of Thee Cosmic Brick Road

The second EP from the Edmonton-based experimental project, Brick Road, this long titled release takes a primitive approach, featuring the strums of an acoustic guitar and a droning ambience. These songs, most around the 10 minute mark, take their time to deliver a slow burn and leave the listener with room for contemplation.

Radiant Baby – Pantomime

Montreal’s Radiant Baby blends modern electronic sounds with heavy new wave and 70’s influence. Every song on this album features a catchy sound, and Radiant Baby’s romantic lyricism. Each song is a lush, comforting ballad featuring a gorgeous layering of instruments and a heartfelt aesthetic. Radiant Baby finds a beautiful blend between the old and new.
